I graduated high school in 1964 and as all young men at that time I had to make a choice. Since I was unable to attend college and get a deferment from the military draft, I had to either wait for my draft notice or join the military on my own. I chose the later. I joined the Air Force and went off to basic training in Texas.

Well I got immersed in the culture quickly. The guys who had been there a while took me out the first few days I was there and introduced me to the night life in Bangkok. There was a red light district that was beyond anything I could have imagined. Bar after bar after bar with hundreds of women working in them as prostitutes. All you had to do was go up to the bar tender and tell him which girl you wanted and pay the five dollars. Now a guy in the military doesn't get paid much but at those prices I figured I could fuck a woman every day of the month. LOL.
Most of these "girls" were very young. Thailand was a very poor country. There was very little opportunity for women to make a career for themselves. Prostitution is legal and a way to make a great deal of money by Thai standards. So the women flocked to the brothels in Bangkok. Many were I am sure under the legal age but the trade was governed and policed. There were many ugly women who worked the bars but there were some very pretty women who worked them also.
